Our Town - Tavistock

Tavistock is a bustling, friendly market town that’ll provide a memorable experience for anyone. An ancient stannary town and the traditional birth place of cream tea, Tavistock can boast being the only town in Devon to hold a world heritage status. A huge range of lovely local independent shops are a welcome change to the average UK high street. A highlight has to be the ancient pannier market.  Along with the award-winning farmers’ market,  these locations provide an experience any shopper will enjoy.

Tavistock is located right at the foot of the national park Dartmoor. The Western Moor is a magical and beautiful area for walking or cycling. There are also numerous National Trust properties very near by such as: Lydford Gorge, Cotehele and Buckland Abbey

Drakes Trail and the West Devon Way to Plymouth are both easy-to-access cycling routes that you can find right from the town centre. There are also many guided walks from the town. Or if you fancy something else, why not embrace the cold with some wild swimming in the local waterways, trying your hand at golf on the golf course set on the Moor, visiting the museum, exercising in the gym, doing some lengths at the swimming pool and enjoying the local arts centre.
